Jelena Popovic, Assistant Minister of Economy and Regional Development opened the Quality Week 2012
In her opening address, Ms Popovic welcomed the participants of 21st traditional manifestation, organized by the Fund for the culture of quality and excellence FQCE and it is held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce from 29 February to 2 March 2012. The Assistant Minister has briefly presented the activities and results of MoERD directed towards the process of full harmonization of Serbian legislation with European legislation in the field of free movement of goods. After the establishment of horizontal legal framework, MoERD, in its competence, transposed the most of the European Directives for products (for machinery, electromagnetic compatibility, electrical equipment, lifts, personal protective equipment, etc..) which makes harmonisation of technical requirements for products placed on the market completed. Also, the process of improving the institutions necessary for implementing the legal framework for free movement of goods (the area of standardization, accreditation, metrology, conformity assessment) has been countinued, as well as the creation of conditions for full membership in European organizations for full integration of Republic of Serbia in the single European market.
Ms. Popovic announced that MoERD, with the support of the German Organization for Technical Assistance - GIZ, has started the analysis of industry and systems for conformity assessment of Republic of Serbia, which will form the basis for the preparation of Strategy for improving quality infrastructure. Adoption of this long-term strategic document aims to establish a balanced, stable and sustainable system of quality infrastructure, harmonized with the needs and long-term plans for Serbian industry.
Once again, she has reminded the participants - representatives of industry, that the competition for the National Award for Business Excellence "Quality Oscar" for 2012 is open, and traditionally it will be awarded under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development.
