Textile

In 2013, the Ministry of Economy transposed the European "old approach" Directives into the legal system of the Republic of Serbia for the labeling of textile products and the labeling of footwear.

TEXTILES

The Ministry of the Economy - Sector for Quality and Product Safety is responsible for transposing and implementing European Regulation (EU) 1007/11 and Regulation (EU) 2018/122.

This area is regulated by the Rulebook on Labeling and Marking of Textile Products ("Official Gazette of the RS", No. 86/2019 – hereinafter: Rulebook ) which is in compliance with all the principles and essential requirements of the Regulation No. 2018/122 of October 20, 2017 of the European Commission amending Regulation No 1007/11 of the European Parliament and of the Council on textile fiber names and the labeling and marking of the composition of textile products.

The following regulations shall be withdrawn when the Rulebook come into force:

1) The Rulebook on mandatory attestation of jute and on requirements that must be met by organizations of associated labour authorized for jute attestation (“The Official Gazette of the SFRY”, No 8/91);

2) Order on the mandatory attestation of cotton (Official Gazette of the SFRY, Nos. 65/84 and 44/88);

3) Order on the mandatory attestation of wool (Official Gazette of the SFRY, No. 65/84).

The following regulations shall cease to be valid starting from the day of applying this Rulebook:

1) Rulebook on Technical and other Requirements for marking, labelling and packing of textile products ("The Official Gazette of the RS ", No 56/09);

2) Order on textile products which must be supplied with quality certificate when traded("The Official Gazette of the FRY ", No 14/92).

The provisions of Art. 21-24. of this Rulebook shall cease to apply on 1 January 2023.

The Rulebook shall enter into force on the eighth day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia.

The Ministry of Economy - Sector for Quality and Product Safety, has prepared and posted on the Sector's website a Guide for the application of the Rulebook, to help entrepreneurs, market surveillance authorities and other stakeholders which apply regulations in this area.
